Peace on Earth

I am getting an early start on Christmas cards again, as it is so useful to have all Christmas cards ready by December first, as that is when hubby and I send them all out to friends and family.

I used two unnamed dies that I got from Wish.com at insanely cheap prices; they are the evergreen trees and the deer. The background piece was a light orchid color and I dabbed some London Fog grey ink along the top to resemble clouds full of snow. Both clear glitter and Martha Stewart coarse glitter were used to resemble falling snow. Sentiment is from Stampin' Up Calm Christmas, and it is die cut with a Sizzix oval stitched die. Sentiment is heat embossed with gold.

Realistic Flower Card

I pulled out my Cricut machine this weekend and am still excited about making cards from different cartridges I have. This one was made using the Flower Shoppe cartridge. I cut everything out on white cardstock and inked each piece with different colors. A stylus was used to curl the leaves, make veins in them and curl the petals on the flower.  A Stampin' Up sentiment from Friendly Phrases was used, and the border was punched using a Martha Stewart Fans and Flourishes punch. The gingham background was made by using a piece of light pink paper stamped with a gingham stamp.

Using Leftovers

Good Morning, Crafters!

Have you ever set out to make a card and made flowers and embellishments, only to find out through the middle of the process, that what you have made doesn't really work with the current project? Well, I have many times; and so I lay those pieces aside in hopes that somewhere down the road there will be a good use for them. Sometimes they lay unused for months.

Today's card is made from former castaways that didn't fit together for what they were made. So I gathered some that had colors that went together and made something from them. The flowers are from SU Botanical Thinlets; the doily is from Memory Keepers Antique Doily; the foliage is from Spellbinders Sprigs; circle is Spellbinders Standard Circles. I don't remember the die used for the butterfly. It's been lying around for a long time. Sentiment is from a discontinued SU stamp. Liquid pearls adorn the flowers and the butterfly.

Pink and Green Thank You

Today's card is made with a new idea I had; I put a layer on top of the main front piece. It was fastened to the back of the main piece and folded over. It has a hand tied double looped bow on the front and is embellished with Spellbinders Scalloped Borders Two die; the inside front of the card is stamped with a Hampton Art sentiment stamp using pink ink, then quickly pearl white embossing powder was sprinkled on and then it was heat embossed. It was cut out with Spellbinders Medallion One die.

A Card within a Card

I got a novel idea from a posting on Pinterest and tweaked it a bit to make it my own creation. It features a card within a card. I used a discontinued stamp from Stampin' Up for the flower, a Darice Swirls EF and Tattered Lace Butterfly dies. It was spritzed with Sheer Shimmer Sparkle Spritz. Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals die was used, as well as liquid pearls.

Smaller card is nested inside the larger blue card:

Wish my iPhone would show more of the sparkle, but this is the best I could do:

You Are the Best!

Good Sunday Morning!

Recently I had some surgery done that corrected an issue that had bothered me for many years. My experience at the hospital was so good. The nursing staff and the doctors were so caring; I never felt afraid, and always felt that I was in competent, experienced hands. They all went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and well-informed, at every turn asking if there was anything I needed.

I made this card for them, and hope they were blessed by it:

These were used to make the card:

  • Just Rite Grand Sentiments
  • Stampin' Up Botanical Builder Framelits
  • Viva Perlen-Pen - Glitter Holo
  • Aqua Ribbon
  • Pink Ink
  • Clear Embossing Powder for the sentiment

Black and White Birthday

Today's card was made for an extra extra extra special friend whose birthday was yesterday. I took it to her a couple of days early because I just couldn't wait to give it to her. As it turns out, she was feeling sick and yucky on her birthday and is still recovering, so prayers are going up for her to feel better soon.

I stitched around the white layer with a pattern that my sewing machine makes and rounded the corners with my corner rounder punch. The flower punches are from Stampin' Up, Flower Shop stamp set, Pansy Punch and two other SU punches that most likely are discontinued. The foliage is from a Martha Stewart Branch punch. The sentiment stamp I think I got in a bin at a bargain store, and it has no writing on the wood base to indicate who makes it.  Centers of the flowers are embellished with liquid pearls, and the foliage is heavily glittered, although my camera does not show this up very well.

Just so you know, the image shows up as having yellowish or pinkish shadows on my monitor, but none of these colors actually are on the card. The "black" part of the card is actually a dark charcoal grey, which does not show up very dark in the picture.

Thinking of You

Today's card is another "all purpose" one that I made for a friend. I used We Are Memory Keepers Antique Doily die; Memory Box Vivienne Butterfly die; Stampin' Up Teeny Tiny Wishes sentiment stamp. The oval die used on the sentiment is from a "no name" cheapie set purchased on Amazon, made in China. The butterfly is adorned with half pearls, as well as three half pearls sprinkled on the bottom portion of the card.

Lots of glitter on the doily!

You're Simply Amazing!

I had some fun yesterday making a card that can be used for any occasion.  The paper was from my stash, and I think I got it at Hobby Lobby several months ago. The stamp is from Hobby Lobby (Printwork Collection, F4270); the dies are from Stampin' Up:  Botanical Builder Framelits and Stitched Circle dies. The outer circle die is from Spellbinders Scalloped Circles. Glitter was used to accent the flowers and leaves. A Viva liquid pearl accents the center of  the flower.

Happy 50th Anniversary!

Good Morning, Crafters!

I can't believe it's been almost a month since my last post, but Harvey has changed a lot of things here in Texas, and some priorities have come before posting on my blog.

My sweet friend asked me to make a 50th Anniversary card for her to give to her husband (such a sweet couple!).  I thought a lot about its construction; most cards I looked at for ideas were those that someone else would send to the couple, so it took a bit of contemplation to come up with this card.

The base over the gold layer is a Stampin' Up Happy Heart EF which was highlighted with gold ink; also used were Spellbinders Ribbon Banners and Vines of Passion dies. I found some lovely gold and white patterned paper in my stash that added some pizzaz!  :o)  The trim at the bottom of the card came on a roll that I found at Michael's.

2 Corinthians 5:15-20
15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.

16 So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! 17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!

18 And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. 19 For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation.  NLT
